If Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) interests you, but you think you can’t compete against “professional” players, FastPick.com may be the alternative you’re looking for.

Operated by Resorts Digital Gaming, the interactive arm of Resorts Casino Hotel, the online fantasy sports platform is available only to individuals physically located in New Jersey.

Resorts is the first casino in New Jersey to let customers play daily fantasy sports contests for money. Nevada is the only other state where you can play fantasy sports games for money through the casinos.

The daily fantasy sports market, popularized by sites such as DraftKings and FanDuel, brought in more than $3 billion in 2016, according to research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming.

DFS is based on the season-long fantasy contests that millions of people play each year.

Designed for all sports fans, FastPick’s user-friendly platform enables players with even a minimum of sports knowledge to compete against the house.

The site offers a wide range of pre-selected player match-ups across all major sports leagues. For example:

  1. Russell Westbrook v. Lebron James (NBA)
  2. Sidney Crosby v. John Tavares (NHL)
  3. Manny Machado v. Miguel Cabrera (MLB)
  4. David Villa v. Axel Sjoberg (MLS)
  5. Tom Brady v. Aaron Rogers (NFL)

After players choose three or more match-ups, the results are determined based on standard fantasy sports scoring. If a player’s team gets more points than those assigned to the casino, the player wins.

The FastPick development team surveyed DFS players, studied the feedback and realized the need for a modified platform that promised equitable gameplay. One of the chief findings was that players lost interest when they thought they had little chance of winning while competing against traditional DFS players with more time, knowledge and, in some cases, assistive technology.

“We’ve designed the platform to accommodate all sports fans who want to get a piece of the action, but don’t have the time to compete effectively against professional players,” Ed Andrewes, president of EA Gaming Consultancy Co., lead consultant to Resorts Digital Gaming, says.

“I’m very excited about this new business,” Resorts President Mark Giannantonio says. “We expect it to be exciting for our online customers, and soon, for those who play at our casino. The idea has always been for the brick-and-mortar casino to be integrated as much as possible with our online business.”
