Matt Harkness Hard Rock Casino

Matt Harkness

After just three months of operation, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City has chosen to replace their president, Matt Harkness. Harkness' role will be filled by Joe Lupo, a longtime Borgata executive who currently runs Hard Rock's Tampa casino. Lupo will take over operations Nov. 1.

No specific reason was given for the dismissal of Harkness, Hard Rock's only comment being that he would assume "new responsibilities" moving forward.

Hard Rock opened its doors June 27, to much fanfare and has been popular destination for tourists due to its big name concerts, restaurants and an incredible collection of memorabilia, however its overall gaming revenue over the last two months has only landed it in the middle of the group of casinos in Atlantic City.

“I would like to thank Matt for his contribution to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City and appreciate his efforts leading the successful opening of this exceptional property,” said Jon Lucas, COO of Hard Rock International.
