Part of 50 Bites+ is about trying things you may not have tasted before, but it’s also about finding the BEST tasting foods our area has to offer, no matter where they come from. And that includes right here in the U.S. of A, where some of the most-recognizable and legendary dishes come wrapped in gloriously carb-heavy bread. We’re talking burgers, dogs and sandwiches. Giddy up.
This week we’re flipping things around, kicking things off outside A.C. with a trip to Chickie’s & Pete’s in Egg Harbor Township, where their amazing Philly-style roast beef sandwich awaits. Ventura’s Greenhouse in Margate offers up temptation-on-a-bun with it’s mouth-watering roast pork slider. Over at Essl’s Dugout in West Atlantic City, a pair of awesome options await as you can choose from a mini version of their classic Messl breakfast sandwich or opt for a mini slider instead.
Time to head to the city. Stop one is Ocean Casino Resort where Pit Boss BBQ Beer and Fish Fry sets us up beautifully with the pulled chicken and mac slider. From there it’s off to Resorts Casino Hotel where three American Bites live under one roof. DraftKings Sportsbook offers up one of the largest Bites of all, the foot-long hot dog, while the Original Soupman skips the soup in favor of a Thanksgiving sandwich that will really give you something to be thankful for. Finally the mushroom Swiss Burger at Ruby’s Dinette makes for a carnivorous masterpiece.
Over at Bally’s Atlantic City, Johnny Rockets goes old-school with a drool-worthy American burger, the Rocket Single. Last — but absolutely not least — is Firewaters Saloon at Tropicana Atlantic City, where the famous true Italian sub rounds out the day with an East Coast classic. See ya next week for the final round of Bites!
