The Observation Wheel on Steel Pier offers unparalleled views of the city.

Everybody loves amusement rides. And if they don’t, well we don’t want to play with them anyway. Here are some that are simply not to be missed.

Observation Wheel: Opened at the end of 2017, this marks the first summer for the Observation Wheel at Steel Pier. Standing at 227 feet high, making it the third largest Ferris wheel in the U.S., the 15-minute ride in temperature-controlled gondolas offers views hat are second to none. The Wheel is open for fun year-round and is lit with 14,000 LED lights that change color for evening rides. $15 for adults; $12 for kids; 1000 Boardwalk, Atlantic City; TheWheelAtSteelPier.com.

Gale Force: The Gale Force roller coaster is a force to be reckoned with. At its highest point, it’s 125-feet tall. With speeds up to 64 MPH, and a drop that goes beyond 90 degrees, this could be the biggest thrill of your life. Playland’s Castaway Cove, 1020 Boardwalk, Ocean City; $10; OceanCityFun.com.

Drop Tower: Over on Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, the 130-foot-high Drop Tower will take riders breath away as they rise to 120 feet only to be dropped to the ground at a speed of 47 MPH. If you’re able to keep your eyes open during this fright-inducing amusement ride, be sure to enjoy the (quick) ocean view. 6th Street and the Boardwalk, Ocean City; Gillians.com.
