Beauty on four legs heads to South Jersey this September. Somers Point-Community First announced today that it will present "Beauty & the Leash", a talent and beauty contest for dogs, at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14. The pageant will take place on the lawn in front of Shore Medical Center along Bay Avenue in Somers Point.

"The Beauty & the Leash pageant will be a great community event, and a wonderful opportunity to thank and honor the pet therapy dogs who volunteer to help the patients at Shore Medical Center," said Brian Cahill, a founding member of Somers Point-Community First.

Beauty & The Leash will begin with a Show Us Your Paws parade along Bay Avenue led by "R Dog" of Republic Bank in Somers Point. At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a ceremony to honor the pet therapy dogs, followed by the talent and beauty contest.

Dogs can be entered in the following categories: Owner Look-Alike; Talent; Beauty (small dog); Beauty (large dog). Winners will be awarded a trophy and celebratory biscuit. Representatives from Beacon Animal Rescue of Cape May and Atlantic Counties will also be at the event. Registration begins August 1.

Shore Medical Center is located at 100 Medical Center Way in Somers Point.
