The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers is hosting the 7th Annual HERO Walk to fight drunk driving Sunday, Oct. 29, in Ocean City.

For the first time, the organization is offering a 5K run. Now, instead of just a walking, the event includes a more competitive run for participants, with prizes for men and women in various age groups.

Both the walk and the run will take off from 6th Street and the Boardwalk, with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the Ocean City Sports and Civic Center, also located at 6th Street and the Boardwalk. The 5K run starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by the walk at 11 a.m.

The HERO Campaign is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of safe and sober designated drivers.

The walk is $25 and the run is $35. Students can walk for $15 and run for $20. Pre-registration is available at HEROWalkRun.org.
